Susan Jaglal serves as a Strategic Advisor to the Chair, providing high-level guidance on academic planning, resource allocation, and long-term departmental goals. She facilitates collaboration, data-driven decision-making and strategic communication within and beyond the department.

Prof. Jaglal holds cross appointments to the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute and the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation. She is a Senior Scientist at KITE Toronto Rehabilitation Institute-University Health Network. She was Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy from 2019 to 2023.

Prof. Jaglal is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and a recipient of the Canadian Society for Epidemiology and Biostatistics Service Award and numerous awards and distinctions. She held the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute Chair at the University of Toronto from 2005 to 2020.

Prof. Jaglal has demonstrated academic leadership through her distinguished service on many committees—at the University of Toronto, locally, provincially, nationally and internationally—including Canadian Institutes of Health Research grant and fellowship committees.  

A dedicated educator, Prof. Jaglal is the recipient of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine Graduate Teaching Award for Sustained Excellence in Graduate Teaching and Mentorship. She has supervised 13 MSc and 12 PhD students and 11 Post-doctoral Fellows.

Prof. Jaglal holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences now known as ICES.

Research & Scholarly Activities

Prof. Jaglal’s research interests include osteoporosis, spinal cord injury and rehabilitation health services with emphasis on utilization, appropriateness, self-management and knowledge translation. She has published approximately 300 peer-reviewed journal articles.
