Critical Disability Studies Research

Lead Researcher - Karen Yoshida

Research Overview

Presently, Dr. Yoshida is leading a research project to mobilize Critical Disability Studies in non-CDS academic spaces. Her research has two overarching streams:

  • Issues of inequities that disabled people face in which I examine/respond to structural inequities, e.g. COVID-19 has exacerbated existing inequities and creating new one.
  • The productive nature of disability/difference, e.g. Leadership and activism in the community and academia and Disability history, arts and culture. Karen has conducted many academic-community research projects over the past 30+ years.
