Shelley Gautier Receives Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal

U of T BScPT graduate (’95) and 2012 London Paralympics athlete Shelley Gautier received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal at a ceremony held at 500 University Avenue, Department of Physical Therapy, University of Toronto on July 3 2013. The award was presented by the Minister of State (Sport) Bal Gosal and the President of Canadian Paralympic Committee, Dr. Gaetan Tardif.

This commemorative medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The medal serves to honour “significant contributions and achievements by Canadians”.  It is given to Canadians who have made a significant contribution to a particular province, territory, region or community within Canada, or an achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada. The Chancellery of Honours, as part of the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General, administers the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal program.
