Rehab Rounds: Sandra Danilovic

Ms. Sandra Danilovic, Ph.D. Candidate, will be presenting: ” ”How does it hurt?’ Authoring the Autopathography in DIY Digital Games” on Thursday November 6th from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.  This event takes place in room 140 of the Rehabilitation Sciences Building, 500 University Avenue. Ms. Danilovic is a PhD Candidate and SSHRC Doctoral Fellow at the Faculty of Information, University of Toronto.  She studies experimental game design practices with a special focus on the autopathography – the personal narrative of illness, trauma, or disability in Do-It-Yourself (DIY) games.  Working at the intersection of arts-informed disability studies, game studies and narratology, her dissertation investigates the creative design processes and experiences of game designers authoring the autopathographic digital game.  Broadly, her work explores the self-expressive, personally restorative and socially transformative potential of games design in challenging negative attitudes about disability, illness, or human difference.  She has an extensive background in filmmaking, fine arts and digital media practice.
