Rehab Rounds: Kieran O’Sullivan
Dr. Kieran O’Sullivan, PhD, will be presenting “Chronic Low Back Pain: Selecting the Most Relevant Findings During Patient Assessment and Management” on Friday June 13, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. This event takes place at the room 140 of the Rehabilitation Sciences Building, 500 University Avenue.
Dr. O’Sullivan is a lecturer at the University of Limerick in Ireland and works part-time in private clinical practice. He completed his PhD in 2012 on low back pain (LBP) and has obtained funding of over €750,000 for his research. He is currently coordinating several research projects including a multi-centre randomised controlled trial (RCT) on treatment of LBP and a prospective study evaluating the factors associated with pain/injury among professional dancers. His research group has a track record in dissemination of their research using their online platform www.pain-ed.com.
Dr. O’Sullivan has published over 40 peer-reviewed publications in journals such as Spine, European Spine Journal, British Journal of Sports Medicine, Manual Therapy, Ergonomics, Applied Ergonomics and BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders. He has also published 1 book and 3 book chapters, by reputable international publishers. He has given over 50 presentations at scientific conferences such as the World Congress in Low Back and Pelvic Pain and the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT) Conference. He has been an invited keynote speaker on spinal pain at national scientific conferences in both Ireland and Denmark.
