Rehab Rounds: Dr. Quincy Almeida
Dr. Quincy Almeida will be presenting at Rehab Rounds on Thursday March 3, 2016 from 12:10 to 1:00 pm. This event will take place in room 132 of the Rehabilitation Sciences Building at 500 University Avenue.
Dr. Almeida is the Director of the Sun Life Financial Movement Disorders Research & Rehabilitation Centre at Wilfrid Laurier University. In addition to publishing over 100 peer-reviewed publications and 200 conference papers, Dr. Almeida has given 20 international keynote presentations. He has been featured in Canada’s top national newspapers and television stations as well as several magazines, including Maclean’s.
Dr. Almeida is funded by multi-million dollar grants from the Canada Foundation for Innovation and CIHR-CCNA, and has won several awards including the Franklin Henry Young Scientist Award for motor control in Canada, the Parkinson’s Society of Canada Young Investigator’s Award, the Polanyi Prize for Physiology and Medicine, the Queen’s Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal, and the Early Career Distinguished Scholar Award from NASPSPA.
Dr. Almeida has spoken about his novel approach to understanding Parkinson’s disease around the world, including countries such as Norway, Brazil, Australia, and Israel, among others.
