Rehab Rounds: Dr. Emily Nalder

Dr. Emily Nalder will be presenting “Transition from hospital to home: What do we know about the experiences of individuals with traumatic brain injury and where do we go from here?” on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 12-1 pm. This event takes place at the room 140 of the Rehabilitation Sciences Building, 500 University Avenue.

The aim of this presentation is to:

1)    Describe and synthesise qualitative and quantitative data on the transition experiences of individuals with TBI and their family caregivers

2)    Discuss clinical implications and future research directions

Dr. Emily Nalder is an Occupational Therapist and holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Therapies from the University of Queensland in Australia. She is currently undertaking a postdoctoral research fellowship with Dr. Deirdre Dawson at the Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest. Her research aims to facilitate knowledge translation and improve the psychosocial functioning of individuals with acquired brain injury and their family members. Her doctoral work examined transitions from hospital to home, and explored the complex interrelationships between the person, the environment, and rehabilitation services that shape individuals’ experiences, and the efficacy of rehabilitation.
