Rehab Rounds: Dr. Darlene Reid

Dr. Darlene Reid, BMR (PT), PhD, will be presenting “Pain Experienced by People Living with COPD” on Wednesday April 1, 2015 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.  This event takes place in room 140 of the Rehabilitation Sciences Building at 500 University Avenue.

Dr. Darlene Reid is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto.  She received her PhD in pathology from the University of British Columbia after completing a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation in Physical Therapy at the University of Manitoba.  Dr. Reid holds the rank of Senior Scientist at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute as and is Associate Member of the UBC Respiratory Division and Lung Health Centre.

Dr. Reid’s research focuses on improving the care and outcomes for patients suffering from acute and chronic respiratory conditions and her teaching focuses on cardiopulmonary physiotherapy and research design.  Dr. Reid is the senior editor for the recently published 2nd edition of the textbook, Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy: Management and Case Studies.  She has received recognition awards from the Canadian Lung Association, Physiotherapy Canada, and the Canadian Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy Society of the Lung Association.  Dr. Reid is currently a member of the RENASCENT Oversight Committee which is developing a national research training, mentorship and awards program for respiratory research.
