Rehab Rounds: Dr. Dany Gagnon

Dr. Dany Gagnon, PT, PhD, is Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation at the Université de Montréal and Researcher at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Rehabilitation of Greater Montreal (CRIR).  Dr. Gagnon presents Qualitative and Quantitative Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Imaging: An Emerging Approach in Physiotherapy on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 12-1 pm. This event takes place at the room 140 of the Rehabilitation Sciences Building, 500 University Avenue.

Dr. Gagnon trained and worked as a physiotherapist (McGill University, 1990) prior to earning a MSc (2002) and a PhD (2007) in Biomedical Sciences (Rehabilitation Sciences Curriculum) from Université de Montréal.  He completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Pittsburgh and at the University of Toronto, focussing in part on technical aids and assistive technologies.  He is an FRQS Junior I Scholar.  He is a member of the Multidisciplinary SensoriMotor Rehabilitation Research Team supported by CIHR and a member of the Quebec-Ontario Spinal Cord Injury Mobility (SCI-MOB) Research Group funded by Quebec Rehabilitation Research Network (REPAR) and the Ontario NeuroTrauma Foundation (ONF).  He coordinates the rehabilitation component of the Rick Hansen Spinal Cord Injury Registry for the western regions of Quebec and is the chair of REPAR’s strategic group in traumatology.  He was awarded the Lindsay Rehabilitation Research Fund with his colleague Sara Ahmed (McGill University).  Dr. Gagnon’s research activities focus predominantly on upper extremity functional activity assessments among individuals with neurological or orthopaedic impairments using various biomechanical (kinematics, kinetics, electromyography, dynamometry), metabolic and imaging techniques and in the development and assessment of emerging rehabilitation interventions and innovative technologies.
