Ontario Government Expanding Access to Seniors
Today the Minister of Health and Long Term Care, Deb Matthews, held a press conference to announce the expansion of physiotherapy treatment for seniors. Beginning August 1, 2013, more than 200,000 additional people, primarily senior citizens, will be provided with access to physiotherapy, exercise and fall-prevention classes. This is part of the government’s strategy to care for the aging population and is designed to ensure all long-term care home residents who need one-on-one attention from a physiotherapist will receive it. Various news outlets have reported this announcement, including CTV, CP24 (video) and The Globe and Mail. Additionally, press releases were published by the Minitstry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Ontario Physiotherapy Association.
