Kara Patterson Receives Award from Heart & Stroke’s Foundation of Canada

Head shot of Kara PattersonKara Patterson, an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto, has received the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada’s “Focus on Stroke Research Scholarship.”

The title of the proposal is “An investigation of novel approaches to the neurorehabilitation of post-stroke gait.”

The main objectives of the research program enabled by this personnel award are to improve our understanding of 1) how gait is relearned after stroke and 2) the stroke-induced impairments associated with post-stroke gait. This knowledge can lead to the creation of novel interventions to improve walking function after stroke.
