Dr. Samuel Leitenberg
A doctor, a humanitarian and someone who always went the extra mile for his patients. A rare amalgam of old-school practice and cutting-edge clinical practice, Dr. Samuel Leitenberg graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 1974.
He opened his own practice. He made house calls. He never turned any one away. Patients lined up early in the morning when Dr. Leitenberg arrived. He practiced medicine for 37 years.
To honour his memory his collegues created the Dr. Samuel Leitenberg Award for the Humanitarian Practice of Family and Community Medicine supports a medical resident who exemplifies humanitarian qualities.
