Dr. Carol Heck Wins 2016 W.T. Aikins Award
Dr. Heck has been honoured with the 2016 W.T. Aikins Award for Excellence in Individual Teaching Performance, Small Group category.
The Faculty of Medicine at University of Toronto has recognized Dr. Heck for her high-quality teaching, passion for education, and ability to connect with her students.
The 2016 W.T. Aikins Award is the most prestigious Faculty of Medicine award for excellence in undergraduate medical education. Winners of this award are selected from nominees identified in a faculty-wide process. The criteria for these awards are extremely vigorous, and each nomination requires extensive support from both peers and students. Documentation, including student and peer evaluations, are carefully reviewed for each nominee by a panel of faculty and students.
This award honours Dr. Heck’s invaluable contribution to the Faculty of Medicine’s educational mission and her significant commitment to undergraduate medical education.
Dr. Heck will be presented this award on May 11, 2016 at the Faculty’s Education Achievement Celebration at Hart House.
Dr. Carol Heck is Assistant Professor (status-only) in the Department of Physical Therapy at University of Toronto, and Scientist in Practice Based Research and Innovation and Collaborative Academic Practice at University Health Network.
