Appointment of Prof. Susan Jaglal as Chair, Dept. of Physical Therapy

I’m pleased to announce that the Agenda Committee of the Academic Board has approved the appointment of Prof. Susan Jaglal as Chair and Graduate Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy, effective January 1, 2021.

Professor Jaglal is currently Interim Chair of the department and previously served as Vice Chair of Research.  She is cross appointed to the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute (RSI) and the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME), holds the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute-University Health Network Chair at the University of Toronto and is the Academic Lead for Training in the AGEWELL Networks of Centres of Excellence. Since 2005 she has been Senior Researcher at Women’s College Research Institute and Senior Scientist at the Toronto Rehabilitation Sciences Institute, University Health Network. 

An expert in rehabilitation health services with emphasis on utilization, effectiveness of services and knowledge translation, Dr. Jaglal has co-authored more than 250 peer-reviewed articles in top-ranked journals in her field.  As principal investigator or co-principal investigator, she has secured over $9 million in funding for her research interests in osteoporosis, spinal cord injury and rehabilitation health services.

Professor Jaglal is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and a recipient of the Canadian Society for Epidemiology and Biostatistics Service Award. She is also a recipient of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine Graduate Teaching Award for Sustained Excellence in Graduate Teaching and Mentorship, RSI’s Continuing/Sustained Excellence in Graduate Student Supervision and Mentorship Award and IHPME’s Eugenie Stewart Award for MSc/PhD Supervision.
