Principles of Backwards Course Design Registration
Student learning is a top priority for most faculty, yet we often find ourselves caught up in the day-to-day demands of teaching rather than focused on this ultimate goal. What happens when we create courses based on where we want to end up—with the emphasis on student success and learning? Specifically targeted to faculty teaching in the MScPT program, this workshop explores how you can make backwards course design work in your courses. We will focus on key principles that will integrate the three curriculum pillars of critical thinking, inquiry mindset, and professionalism into your course goals, outcomes, and assessments. Using your own upcoming courses, participants will first explore some of the theory around backwards course design and then put that theory into practice using concrete strategies that will help students achieve course goals and curriculum benchmarks.
