Melanie MacKinnon is a Physiotherapist and a lecturer with the Department of Physical Therapy and she is the Co-Coordinator for Unit 8, the Advanced Musculoskeletal Unit, with Euson Yeung.
She graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology (HBScKIN) from Dalhousie University and then continued her studies at the University of Toronto, receiving her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy (MScPT). She advanced her Physical Therapy training by completing her Masters in Clinical Science Manipulative Therapy (MClSc MT) degree from the University of Western Ontario and became a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapists (FCAMPT) in 2009.
Melanie has been involved in teaching in a variety of capacities within the Department of Physical Therapy. She was a teaching assistant for Unit 8 for 5 years, assisting in the clinical skills labs and with practical and written examinations. She has supported the Ontario Internationally Educated Physical Therapy Bridging Program (OIEPTB) by developing a series of Palpation Skills videos that are used throughout the Department of Physical Therapy and has also lectured and lead practical sessions for the OIEPTB program. She is an Instructor and Mentor for the Orthopedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and is a Mentor for the University of Western Ontario, Masters of Clinical Science, Manipulative Therapy Program.
She is co-owner of a multi-disciplinary Sports Medicine practice and is the Junior Secretary/Treasurer for the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy.
