Rehab Rounds: Dr Cindy Gauthier

Dr Cindy Gauthier will be presenting “Exercise capacity and functional ability among people living with spinal cord injury: assessment and training protocols” at Rehab Rounds on Thursday April 4, 2019 from 12:10 to 1:00 pm.  This event will take place in room 132 of the Rehabilitation Sciences Building at 500 University Avenue.

Dr Cindy Gauthier is a physiotherapist who graduated from the Université de Montréal in 2013. During her master’s degree, she studied seated balance and postural control among individuals with spinal cord injury. In 2018, she obtained her PhD from the School of Rehabilitation of the Université de Montréal. Her thesis focussed on cardiorespiratory fitness assessment and training among manual wheelchair users.

She recently joined the SCI-Mobility Lab for a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr Kristin Musselman. She will study the effects of electrical stimulation during functional activities and physical fitness trainings among individuals with spinal cord injury. Dr Gauthier wants to focus her research and clinical work on developing and promoting innovative and effective treatment therapies to improve functional capacity and quality of life of individuals with neurological impairments.
