Presenter:  Mary Jean Hande, PhD

Dr. Mary Jean Hande is a critical gerontologist working with the Nova Scotia Centre on Aging. Her interdisciplinary work draws on intersectional aging and disability studies, feminist, anti-racist, and historical materialist approaches to understand care work and care policy in the context of aging, precarity and globalization. Her research and teaching are community- and user-engaged and she prioritizes marginalized perspectives and transformative social change. She is currently leading a SSHRC Insight Development Grant investigating the experiences of migrant home care workers caring for older people during the COVID-19 pandemic in Manitoba.
