Understanding how High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) affects the brain.
Linda Thøring Øverberg is an intensive care nurse and a PhD student in the Neurobiology & Toxicology group http://www.mn.uio.no/farmasi/english/research/groups/neurobiology-and-toxicology/index.html, led by Dr. Cecilie Morland, Department of Pharmacy, University of Oslo (UiO), Norway. She is currently a Visiting Scholar with the Safe Independent Mobility Lab at the KITE Research Institute, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute – University Health Network. Øverberg’s research includes elderly human subjects as well as animal models. She seeks to reveal how high intensity interval training (HIIT) affects the brain. She will be presenting data from a recently published study in mice L-lactate induces neurogenesis in the mouse ventricular-subventricular zone via the lactate receptor HCA 1 – PubMed (nih.gov) and her ongoing research on human stroke patients and controls.
