Exploring the potential for neuromodulation therapeutics in paediatric rehabilitation
Short Bio:
Deryk Beal, PhD, is a Clinician-Scientist at the Bloorview Research Institute at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and an Assistant Professor (status only) in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute at the University of Toronto. Dr. Beal is also cross-appointed to the Collaborative Program in Neuroscience and Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto.
In this talk, Dr. Beal will describe his line of research examining the potential for the use of transcranial direct current stimulation (TDCS) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) as stand-alone and adjunct treatments in paediatric neurorehabilitation. Populations of interest discussed include concussion, traumatic brain injury, stroke and autism spectrum disorder.
