Dr. Crystal MacKay is a Scientist at West Park Healthcare Centre and holds a status appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, and cross-appointment with the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute, University of Toronto. She completed a Bachelor of Science in physical therapy at Queen’s University, a Master of Health Science (community health and epidemiology) at the University of Toronto, and a PhD in the Institute of Medical Science, University of Toronto. Following her doctoral training, Dr. MacKay completed a CIHR-funded postdoctoral fellowship at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. Dr. MacKay has expertise in health services research, implementation science and uses multiple methods (qualitative and quantitative) in her research. She also is a trainer for GLA:DTM Canada, an exercise and education program for people with hip and knee osteoarthritis. Test.

Research & Scholarly Activities

Dr. MacKay is focused on conducting clinically relevant research with the ultimate goal of improving quality of life of people living with complex chronic conditions. Her current research aims to understand individuals’ health experiences and outcomes and to develop and test innovative patient-centred solutions to support the physical and mental health needs of people with chronic conditions, with a focus on limb loss.
