Rehab Rounds: Dr. Lyn S. Turkstra
Dr. Lyn S. Turkstra will be presenting “Rethinking Acute Rehabilitation for Patients with Cognitive Impairments” on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 3:15-4:00 pm. This event takes place at the room 140 of the Rehabilitation Sciences Building, 500 University Avenue. Dr. Turkstra is a Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Dr. Turkstra is an international expert on cognition and communication in adolescents and adults with traumatic brain injury (TBI), and co-author of the 2011 text, Optimizing Cognitive Rehabilitation, with Dr. McKay Sohlberg. Dr. Turkstra served on the Academy of Neurological Communication Disorders and Sciences writing committee on Practice Guidelines for Cognitive-Communication Disorders after TBI, is a consultant to the Department of Defense and Veterans Health Administration for development of practice guidelines in TBI, and works nationally and internationally on the development of standards for cognitive rehabilitation in acute, sub-acute, and long-term care settings.
